It’s no secret that Americans are increasingly disenchanted with the country’s political system. Bipartisanship and perennial campaigning has fostered the notion that politicians are more concerned with status and recognition than with providing a public serve. As the sides struggle to differentiate themselves, only the most polarizing and outlying voices are heard—even if they are illogical and don’t contribute anything meaningful to the public discourse.
Indiana Senator Evan Bayh recently announced that he would not be running for reelection, citing the bipartisan tendencies in Congress as his main deterrent. Unfortunately, people like Bayh, who have a genuine desire to seek the public good and not simply become a career politician, are reluctant to serve because of the amateurish nature of politics and their coverage in the media. It is time for people to stop using talking points and catchphrases from political bumperstickers to discuss politics; that only leads to bickering and a widening of the ideological divide.
Everyday it seems like President Obama digs are country into an even deeper hole. It all started with the blatantly socialist agenda of the Obamacare bill that was rammed through Congress and the reconciliation process without even the façade of bipartisanship. The Obama Administration quickly turned their attention to the financial sector, where they are looking to regulate our banking system and stifle the growth of the private sector.
And now things have gotten from bad to worse thanks to Obama’s incompetence in dealing with the BP oil spill; not to mention the fact that tensions with North Korea are escalating, the national debt is over $12 trillion and the Obama White House is under investigation for allegedly using cabinet positions to alter elections. It doesn’t take a political scientist to recognize that we need to impeach Obama now and restore the principles that made our nation great.
