Now that Obamacare has been law for over a week, the debate is already starting to lose some of its steam as pundits turn their attention to new legislation and political debates such as nuclear disarmament and financial reform. In the wake of the passage, however, little has been said about the actual content of the legislation, as the majority of the coverage has focused on attempts and strategies to repeal the law and the isolated incidents of extremists threatening politicians and performing violent acts.

There is a definite dichotomy of opinion on how the American people will respond to the legislation. Democrats are hoping that voters will forget about the severe rancor that enveloped the proceedings by the midterm elections in November and that the perceived victory will provide momentum for more legislation. On the conservative side, Republicans and Tea Partiers are saying that the midterm elections will be a referendum on healthcare, and party leaders are hoping to stoke the public outcry over the new law until November.
